What This Means in Practice
At HBE, fair housing is not merely a compliance requirement. It is part of treating every buyer with dignity, independence, and equal professional care.
We will not:
- Steer buyers toward or away from neighborhoods because of protected characteristics
- Provide different levels of service because of a buyer’s protected status
- Discourage or delay access to properties on discriminatory grounds
- Use protected characteristics, or proxies for them, to decide where a buyer should live
- Describe neighborhoods in ways intended to signal a preferred type of resident
We will:
- Provide every buyer with the same high standard of professional representation
- Base search and property work on the buyer’s stated, lawful, objective criteria
- Help buyers locate objective third-party information when they want to research schools, public services, transportation, taxes, property records, or other community facts
- Protect each buyer’s ability to make their own housing choice
Blockbusting Is Illegal
It is illegal, for profit, to induce or attempt to induce a person to sell or rent a dwelling by making representations about the entry into a neighborhood of people belonging to a protected class.
HBE does not participate in blockbusting, discriminatory steering, or other practices intended to manipulate housing decisions based on protected characteristics.
